A client from Marquette dropped by Driven Sound and Security with his 2009 Hummer H3 to inquire about improving the performance of the sound system. He wanted more bass from the system, but didn’t want to give up any cargo area. After looking at the vehicle, we suggested upgrading the factory subwoofer and adding a real amplifier to give him the performance he wanted. He loved the plan and gave us the go-ahead to schedule an appointment.
On the day he dropped off the truck, we removed the factory 8-inch subwoofer from its enclosure and mounted a Memphis Car Audio PRX8D4 8-inch subwoofer in its place. To power the sub efficiently, we replaced the tiny little factory amplifier with a JL Audio RD500/1 amp. Once we had the system configured and tuned, and we put the factory trim panels back in place, it was impossible to see any of the modifications.
