Remote Car Starters Available For Manual Transmissions

December 16, 2014 By Jeremy Lambertson Leave a Comment

remote car starter manual transmissionEvery now and then when discussing a remote car starter with a client they tell us they can’t have one because they drive a manual transmission.  This can be a real problem for folks living in the frozen tundra we call Northern Michigan!  Here at Driven Sound and Security, the conversation goes much differently than expected.

Follow along with us in a typical dialogue with our client:

Us-“Mr client, have you ever considered a remote car starter? Is It getting cold out these days?”
Client-“Well…no, I haven’t.  I have a manual transmission.”
Us-“Did you know we can safely remote start your vehicle?”
Client- (with a wide-eyed stare) “No, I did not.”
Us-“Yes sir, we have safely outfitted many manual transmission vehicles.”
Client-“Well, how does it work?”
Us-“Our systems work pretty simply.  You pull into a parking spot and set the parking brake while your foot is still on the brake pedal. You then release the brake pedal and wait three seconds before turning off the ignition. When you turn off the ignition, the engine will stay running as the remote starter has engaged. Now you exit the vehicle. After the last door is closed, the remote start will turn off the engine and lock the doors. As long as no one opens any of the doors, the system will remote start your vehicle. It will do this as it knows you got out of the vehicle with it running, so it had to be in neutral. For added safety, we install one more safeguard. We have a sensor that can detect as little as three inches of movement. If it senses that tiny bit of movement, it will shut off the vehicle, preventing anything unexpected from happening.”

At this point, the client typically goes from disbelief to excitement. Many times the appointment is booked on the spot!

Does getting a remote car starter on your manual transmission vehicle sound interesting to you? We hope so.

If you would like more information on the different remote starters we have available for your manual transmission vehicle, call us, Contact Us, or better yet, stop by with your vehicle. We will take the time to get to know you and your vehicle, discuss all the various options that are available for your manual transmission remote car starter upgrade, and pick out the perfect solution just for you.

We look forward to working with you.
