A client from here in Marquette dropped by Driven Sound & Security to ask about upgrading the audio system in his 2017 Dodge Challenger. As with most factory stereo systems, it sounded OK, but didn’t have anywhere near enough bass to be fun.
We used an audio and data interface from PAC to extract a signal from the factory radio and feed it into a JL Audio JX1000/1 amplifier. This 1,000-watt amp drives a pair of JL Audio 10W0v3 subwoofers. We installed the subs in a vented enclosure to increase the overall system efficiency and improve low-frequency output.
Once the wiring was complete, we set up the amp with our scope to ensure it would play clear and loud without distortion. Proper amplifier configuration is an important step and one that most DIY installers neglect to complete.
While the car was at the shop, the client asked if we could tint the windows. We applied 3M tint film to the side and rear windows to give the car a classy yet sinister look.
