Yes, We Can Install a Remote Starter on Your Push-to-Start Vehicle

January 8, 2018 By Jeremy Lambertson Leave a Comment

Push-to-StartRemote car starters compatible with push-to-start ignition systems are no problem for Driven Sound and Security in Negaunee. Vehicles with tip-start and push-start ignition systems are becoming more and more common. Our remote starters and data interface modules work perfectly in these applications. Read on to find out how we work with these systems to give you the comfort and convenience you want.

What Is a Push-to-Start Ignition System?

A classic ignition cylinder has contacts that provide accessory, ignition and start output signals. The start signal connects directly to the starter (through a high-current solenoid). When you turn the key, the starter operates for as long as you hold the key. Push-start and tip-start systems send a signal to a computer. The computer controls the starter motor, running it just long enough to bring the engine to life.

Vehicle Data Communication Solutions

Push-to-StartA remote starter works by replicating the start procedure you use every time you get into the vehicle. The Compustar remote starter systems we install include provisions for analog wire connections and data communication with the engine management and vehicle control computers in your vehicle to complete the starting process.

We program the data interface modules for the exact make, model, year and trim level of your vehicle. Digital communication on the vehicle CAN bus sends the start request right to the computer in the car. In push-to-start vehicles, the computer takes care of the rest.

The Importance of Proper Integration

Push-to-StartThe importance of choosing a high-quality remote starter cannot be overshadowed. Reliable components, industry-reference features and years of extensive testing in the harshest conditions in the country combine to ensure your car will start when you press the button on your remote. Integrating these systems into your vehicle reliably is our job.

Our technicians have installed more than 10,000 remote starters and understand the importance of proper electrical connections, safe and secure wire routing and solid component installation. We solder all of our electrical connections to eliminate the chance of intermittent conductivity. Once the connections are secure, we protect the wiring with premium quality vinyl electrical tape. We finish by bundling the wiring securely using automotive-grade cloth tapes and cable ties. In many cases, once we are done with an installation, it’s difficult to discern our work from the factory wiring.

Increase Your Comfort and Save Time

A remote starter not only allows your vehicle to warm up in the winter or cool off in the summer, it saves you time by not having to wait for the engine oil to start circulating before you drive away. If you aren’t one to let your vehicle idle for a minute before you drive off, a remote starter can actually increase the longevity of your engine. On many applications, we can automatically activate your rear window defroster to save you a little more time while clearing the snow off your vehicle.
