Remote Starting Diesel Trucks Is a DrivenSS Specialty

September 12, 2015 By Jeremy Lambertson Leave a Comment

Remote Starting DieselWe often get questions here at Driven Sound & Security about remote-starting diesel vehicles. We hear, “Is remote starting diesel trucks possible”? Or, “I have a diesel engine in my vehicle. Can you remote-start it safely”? The answer is a loud and clear Yes. We are experts in installing remote car starters in diesel vehicles. And the good news for you is that that diesel vehicles gain many more benefits from remote starts than gasoline-powered ones do.

Remote Starting Diesels Not Only Increases Comfort But Also Vehicle Performance

When it is cold outside, who wants to go out to a cold vehicle or, even worse, scrape ice from its windows? The first benefit of a remote starter is warming up your vehicle and de-icing your windows. You probably knew this one already, but have you thought about how much better your diesel vehicle runs once it is warmed up? Modern diesel engines run much better when they are cold than earlier ones, but the fact remains that your vehicle still runs even better when it is warmed up. Remote-starting your diesel vehicle will make it run better, and more efficiently, as some heat gets going in your engine.

Faster Startup Times

Have you noticed that, on cold days, your diesel vehicle takes longer to warm up than a gas-powered vehicle does? This issue alone makes a remote car starter a great idea. You may have noticed that, on a very cold day, your engine never gets up to operating temperature on shorter trips. A remote starter will solve that for you.

Speaking of taking longer to warm up, our diesel systems are set to run for longer periods of time than their gas counterparts, allowing sufficient time for your diesel engine to warm up properly.

Increased Engine Life And Efficiency

A diesel engine will last longer and use less fuel when it is at operating temperature. While it is true that you will use fuel while the vehicle is warming up, you will regain some of that in increased efficiency. This can’t be said of a gasoline engine.

Longer Turbo Life

Remote Starting DieselModern diesel engines use turbochargers, which can spin at speeds of up to 100,000 rpm. That is pretty fast! When you are in a hurry and come rolling up to your destination, the oil in your turbo will still be extremely hot from all that spinning. We can install a turbo timer function on your diesel so you can get out of your vehicle quickly, and the engine will keep running for a pre-determined amount of time to cool it down. This is an inexpensive way to extend the life of your turbocharger.

Decades Of Diesel Experience

Our technicians have decades of experience in working with remote starters on diesel engines, so we know how to work with your vehicle’s plugs and how long to crank the engine.

Manual Transmission Diesel?  No Problem!

Last, but not least, we can safely install a remote starter on your manual transmission diesel. Now anyone can have a nice, warm vehicle no matter what the weather conditions.

We invite you to stop by Driven Sound & Security with your vehicle and get to know us. One of our team members will work one on one with you in choosing the best system for your needs. Then our technicians will perform an installation with quality that meets and often exceeds that of a new car dealer.
