A client from Marquette brought his brand new 2019 Subaru WRX STI to Driven Sound and Security for a ceramic paint coating to keep the vehicle looking like new. As we see more frequently with new cars, even with only 400 miles on the odometer, the paint was already damaged with scratches and scuffs from the shipping process and improper washing before delivery to the owner. We explained the correction process we use and how we’d go about making the car look better than new with a coating of Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra.
Subaru WRX STI Ceramic Coating
After washing and degreasing the vehicle, we loaded our Rupes long-three random orbital polisher with a Lake Country buffing pad and Oberk Supreme Cut polishing compound. We went over the entire vehicle in small sections to ensure that 90% of the marks were removed from the paint. Many amateur detailers remove too much clear coat during the polishing process in hopes of eliminating 100% of the imperfections. While this looks great right away, it leaves a thin and fragile layer of clear coat behind that can’t be polished at a later date. We finished the process with Supreme Polish to give the paint amazing gloss and clarity before moving on to the application of Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra ceramic coating.
Crystal Serum Ultra offers amazing hydrophobic properties that make it easy to keep a vehicle clean and looking great for years. We topped the coating with Gtechniq EXO V4 and added C5 wheel armor to help prevent brake dust and dirt from sticking to the wheels.
After the car was clean and protected, we added custom taillight accents, color-matched badges on the side of the front fenders and new emblems on the front and rear of the vehicle.
Premium 3M Window Tint
The 3M tint makes the car look even better.
The client wanted the windows tinted while we had the car in the shop. We installed 3M FX Premium tint on the side and rear windows to give the car a great blacked-out look and provide protection against UV exposure. FX Premium film also blocks about 20% of the infrared heat energy from the sun, so the air conditioning has an easier time keeping the car cool during the summer.
