Driver SafetyIf you are looking to outfit your vehicle with the latest driver safety gear, Driven Sound & Security in Negaunee has you covered. Since our inception, we have focused on offering our clients the best-performing, most-reliable products on the market. Nowhere is that more evident than in this category. When you are buying products that are designed to help save lives, you want a company that doesn’t cut corners. Here are our most popular products in driver safety.

Collision Avoidance Products

We all get distracted while driving. Unfortunately, that can be very dangerous. The good news is that a forward collision avoidance system will make you a better driver. Using sophisticated algorithms along with an advanced camera and sensors, it alerts you if you are following too close to the vehicle in front of you. It also lets you know if you need to brake to avoid a front-end collision. If your car, truck or SUV starts to drift out of its lane, there is an alert for that as well. You can even set alerts for pedestrians and bicyclists that may enter your lane of traffic, helping to prevent a tragedy before it happens.

Types of Blind Spot Systems

Blind spot systems are among the most popular products in driver safety. These alert you to vehicles in your blind spot while you’re driving. They come in two distinctly different styles.

Sensor-style Systems – Blind spot sensors use modules that we hide in your rear bumper and that detect the presence of a vehicle in your blind spot. When you are driving , a visual indicator we install on the left and right side of the car alerts you to something that has entered your blind spot. Should you decide to activate your blinker on the side of the vehicle where the indicator is illuminated, an audible alert sounds as a secondary defense, so you don’t move into that lane. This system works very well and is not affected by weather or darkness.

Driver SafetyCamera-based Systems – The second style of blind spot system uses strategically placed cameras under your sideview mirrors that let you see a vehicle that has entered your blind spot. The cameras are activated by your turn signals. If you activate the left blinker, the left camera activates. If you turn on your right blinker, the right camera activates. Inside the vehicle, the camera image is displayed in one of these areas:

  • Your existing full-color screen in the dash, using an integration module
  • A replacement stereo system with a full-color screen
  • A new rearview mirror with an integrated LCD monitor
  • A stand-alone monitor – often used in commercial applications

360-degree camera systems

Have you ever tried to navigate in a cramped area while in your vehicle; say, a parking lot? What if a camera system could let you see all the way around your car, truck or SUV? Wouldn’t that be great?

Driven Sound & Security can do just that. Our team can install four strategically placed cameras that use digital technology to “stitch” the images together, letting you see everything. Even better, this system gives you the benefit of a blind spot camera system, backup camera and frontview camera. Seeing the image in your vehicle works the same way as with a blind spot camera.
