2011 Chevy Silverado Shop Demo Vehicle Gets Makeover

April 30, 2015 By Jeremy Lambertson Leave a Comment

Chevy Silverado Demo vehicle

Here at Driven Sound & Security, we love trucks. We love their usefulness, their carrying capacity, their looks – heck, we love everything about trucks! So, when it came time to build a demo vehicle for the store, of course we chose a truck. We chose a 2011 Chevy Silverado extended cab to use as platform to show upgrades to our clients.

We Start The Build With A Huge 9 Inch Alpine Navigation System

All of the vehicle functions were able to be retained with the Alpine radio

While we love fixing up trucks, we knew we had to start with the audio system. And what better way to start than with the beautiful Alpine X009-GM2 in-dash 9” navigation system? Quite simply, it is the largest screen available for full-size trucks, and Alpine makes complete kits that are engineered for specific vehicles. It keeps all of the factory steering wheel controls, rearview camera, backup sensors, SiriusXM tuner, and on and on. In its simplest terms, you lose nothing and gain a lot!

Next We Add JL Audio C5 Speakers For Brilliant Sound

JL Audio Speakers

JL Audio C5 Speakers Sound Great In The Chevrolet factory speaker locations

It also became the hub for the rest of the audio upgrade. When it came time for speakers, we chose the JL Audio C5650 components for the front. They use a 6.5” woofer and a .75” tweeter that we installed in the factory speaker locations. In the rear doors, we installed JL Audio C5-650 speakers, which are the coaxial versions of the front speakers. A coaxial speaker mounts the tweeter right in front of the woofer, eliminating the need to drill a hole in the rear doors.

JL Audio Stealthbox Adds The Bass In Our Chevy Silverado

Silverado Stealthbox from JL Audio

The JL Audio Stealthbox fits under the rear seat and gives a factory appearance.

When it came time for bass, we went back to JL Audio again, choosing their Stealthbox. That is a unique, vehicle-specific subwoofer that has a fiberglass enclosure molded to fit perfectly into tight-fitting areas. In our truck, it fits securely underneath the rear seat on the driver’s side, and the carpet is color-matched to the vehicle. It houses two JL Audio 10W1v3 subwoofers, which work in small enclosures while providing incredible output and clarity.

The Whole System Is Powered By A Hertz Amplifier

Chevy Silverado Audio Upgrade

The 4 channel Hertz amplifier powers the entire system.

When it came time for power, we chose a Hertz HDP4 amplifier, which is a compact design and fits nicely under the rear seat on the passenger side. The Hertz amp supplies more than 150 watts per channel to the front speakers, and 500 watts of clean power to the subwoofers. The Alpine stereo in the dash supplies the power for the rear-door speakers.

The Audio Results Were Stunning

Boy, does this thing jam! The sound is almost effortless, and you can now hear every nuance and detail in the music, unlike with the factory stereo system.

But we couldn’t stop with just the stereo system. Here at Driven, we like to work with our clients on whole-vehicle restyles, so our Silverado had to get many of our popular upgrades. Here are some of the modifications we made.

Lifted Up, Wheeled Up, Stepped Up, Scooped Up and Flared Up

Silverado Suspension Upgrade

Big tires and tall suspension lift give this Silverado an aggressive stance!

We installed a Fabtech 6” suspension lift and 35” Nitto Terra Grappler tires, which created the need for the Amp Research Power Steps so you could get into the thing! Bushwacker color-matched flares and a functional ram air hood completed the exterior effects.

Power Bumped Up With ProCharger Supercharger

Chevy Silverado Supercharger

The supercharger fits neatly under the hood providing massive power while retaining both driveablity and reliability.

A ProCharger supercharger with beefed-up transmission modifications turns the oversize tires easily and, at night, the HID headlight conversion lets us see as clear as day.

Leather Seat Kit Adds Luxury To The Interior

On the inside, we installed a leather seat kit along with seat heaters, plus a full complement of gauges.

We invite you to stop by Driven Sound & Security with your vehicle. If you own a truck and would like to personalize it, we will work with you from start to finish to help you build the truck you have always wanted.
