Apple CarPlay – Hands-free Access to iPhone Features

November 16, 2015 By Jeremy Lambertson Leave a Comment

Apple CarPlayApple CarPlay software is one of the greatest products to come along for automobiles in a long time. Driven Sound & Security has a full line of replacement in-dash touchscreen units loaded with this great technology.

Here is how it works. You take your Apple iPhone 5 or newer phone running iOS7.1 or above, and you connect it to one of our Car Play stereo systems that we install in your vehicle. The connection is made using your Lightning cable – the same one you use to charge your phone. The cable plugs into the USB port on your new stereo system. Once it is connected, CarPlay will launch on both your phone and the stereo system, taking you to its homepage with all of the available apps.

Here is a link showing an Apple CarPlay unit in action:

What you are going to see when watching the video is the seamless integration of many of your favorite apps, right on your new stereo system. You will harness the power of Apple’s Siri voice control to safely control your apps almost completely by voice control. By harnessing the power of voice control along with a simplified, easy-to-use control panel, you will now be able to use your iPhone safely while driving. Plus, you will have access to these great options, with more coming all the time.

Your Full Contact List

When you connect your phone to the stereo system, all of your contacts and call history are pulled directly from your phone. You don’t even have to have Bluetooth turned on. When you want to make a call, you simply tap the phone icon on your stereo and Siri fires up, asking who you want to call. If you are driving up the road and don’t take a call, and the caller leaves you a voice mail, CarPlay will ask if you want to hear it.

Text Messaging

Apple CarPlayYou press the message icon on your stereo system, and Siri asks if you want to send a message or hear unread ones. When you get a new message, it will show up as a notification on your stereo system. Simply tapping it will fire up Siri, and it will ask if you want to hear it, and then lets you respond as well, all while keeping your hands safely on the wheel.

Music Control

All of your internal music is stored on your phone, and these popular options are currently available to you:

  • Apple CarPlayiTunes Radio
  • Pandora
  • Spotify
  • iHeartRadio
  • MLB At Bat
  • CBS Radio News
  • plus many more

Apple Maps navigation can easily be controlled by Siri with the map screen showing up on your new touchscreen radio. Now you can safely navigate to anywhere you want to go.

When Driven Sound & Security installs your new touchscreen radio, you can also add items like SiriusXM, a backup camera, and upgraded car audio equipment.

We invite you to stop by our facility with your vehicle and get a live demo of Apple CarPlay today. Our team will work with you to find the best solution for your needs.
